Denotation:

The advert shows a picture of the product and it looks magical.

Connotation:

The text states “for truely magic beans” this is referring to the story jack and the beanstalk. Also the colour looks like a very magical colour and implies that it is magical.

Analysis:

I believe this advert shows the product very well but it is quite bland and boring.

Water aid.

WATER AID ADVERTS.

Denotations:By providing poor countries with water and clean areas for toilets you will have to dig less graves with means less people will die.Also it is showing a picture of a child that looks upset.

Connotations: The colour in the background shows that it is dry and desolate.Also the pale white colour of the text symbolises bones which could suggest dead bodies. So if you don't donate money people will die.

This text is made to make you have sympathy for the children so you will donate.

Film poster

Language
The language on the film poster encourages people to go and watch the film as it has many superlatives and comparatives. It uses many hyperboles as well which may put people off of the film as they are exaggerating too much.

Industries
The poster shows the main actor. Vinny jones, who is a very popular actor/footballer. This may attract people to come and see the film.

Audience
The Film is targeting English people as it is a film with popular English actors. Also it states "the best British movie"

9) What do we learn about the characters from this brief clip?

Firstly, the man whom was talking to john on the bench seems Impertinent however john seems uninterested in the conversation until he mentions a potential flatmate for john. After the scene skips to Sherlock whom the audience can assume is the potential flatmate. He is examining a body with his female colleague who is flirting with him. John and Sherlock meet and John seems creeped out by Sherlock as he knows things about john however they just met.

10) What aspects of this show do you think an audience might enjoy? List at least three things and explain why the audience would enjoy each aspect.

The audience will enjoy the mystery of Sherlock Holmes and also the comedic affect he has. Also john and Sherlock seem as opposites but may work together really well.
